The creators of the popular new social messaging app Yo reportedly confirmed Friday that the app has been hacked.
The app's creator Or Arbel confirmed to TechCrunch that the app was "having security issues," and that specialists were working to alleviate the problems in the next few hours.
TechCrunch obtained an email from a group of three college students claiming to have hacked the app. The email stated that the group could access any Yo user's phone number and send Yo's and push notifications to users.
At least one other security breach was publicized in the last few hours, including anInstagram post that shows a push notification that says: "wow. many 1337. such bad security. I hacked Yo. Use #YoBeenHacked to talk about it."
The app has been the talk of the tech world in the past few days, as skeptics have raised questions about its simplistic concept. In the app, users can do just one thing: send the word "yo" to friends. Though the concept is simple, creators raised over $1 million from investors and the number of users has skyrocketed to over 50,000 in the last month.
