HULU blocks the access through VPNs

HULU is now blocking the access to its streaming services by the VPNs. The company is now halting any access via most VPNs – Virtual Private Networks, around the world. A VPN allows an individual to bypass the HULU’s restriction of streaming only in the U.S., in fact, the U.S. residents are being asked to turn of their anonymizer.

The action would probably end the use of the service outside the U.S. HULU would be looking at the IPs of the commonly used VPNs and would be blocking the access. Even in the U.S., if you are using a VPN that falls under the category of blocked VPNs, chances are high that you would not be able to stream until you use your real IP.

There are many free as well as premium VPN services offering services to hide your identity on the internet. They simply fool the service in believing that you are a resident of U.S.. However, they are still few way by which one can bypass these restrictions. One way would be to use a VPN service that has not been blocked by the HULU another would be by having a number of proxies.

In some other news, Amazon has partnered with the HBO to provide premium services to its users, the company will also allow them to access the Amazon Instant Video catalog. The move is probably for the Amazon to land in the business of the video streaming. Amazon offers a deal of $99 a year which includes a free two day shipping on hundreds of items and access to the video catalog the company has.

The move would probably increase the competition for the HULU and other services. The prices are comparatively low, almost $8/month, and the Amazon puts the other services at risk of losing the customers.
